Principal’s Comments on CAP

The CAP Coordinator received a call from a principal after Teen CAP workshops were implemented at his school. The principal explained that because of the CAP program, a seventh grader, who did not choose to participate in Review Time, did become empowered enough to speak with a trusted adult at the school two weeks after completion of the CAP Workshops. The incident the student disclosed involved law enforcement and the arrest of a perpetrator. The reason for the principal’s call was to thank the CAP Program for teaching empowering strategies that impacted this student and others.

After completing implementation of the CAP Elementary Program, the CAP Coordinator was contacted by the building Principal. He shared that for most of the school year, the nurse, counselor and teacher had been very concerned about a particular student. They believe that the child may have been sexually abused. The building Principal said that after having the CAP Staff Workshop, as well as participating in the students workshops, he feels that he and his staff now have the vocabulary and knowledge to speak with this child.
